AIR PLASMA SPRAY TITANIUM COATINGS

Air plasma spray (APS) coating technology allows the deposition of titanium (Ti) and hydroxyapatite coatings (HA) and guarantees coating deposition with performances and characteristics that comply with FDA requirements, with different degrees of porosity and roughness.

APS Ti coatings have been used with clinical success for many decades. They are the most cost-effective solution matching the essential requirement of enabling long term osseointegration of host bone tissue on the medical devices they are used upon.

Our APS Ti coatings are suitable for several kinds of medical devices: low roughness Ti-coatings are typically used to coat dental implants and spinal components, while high roughness Ti-coatings are used on joint components.

Two APS Ti coatings are currently available:

  • Y371
  • Y367

Both APS Ti coatings can also be overlaid with a second, Osprovit® HA coating to further stimulate an early biological response and promote bone on-growth.
